WordPress
The world’s most popular content management system
WordPress is our bread and butter. It’s a fantastic platform for building all kinds of websites and for allowing non-technical folks to effortlessly manage website content. We’ve been building amazing custom WordPress sites since Harmonic Northwest’s inception over 15 years ago and we have no intention of stopping.
A typical Harmonic Northwest WordPress build involves using a webpack and yarn build process to compile, minimize and concatenate JavaScript and SASS files, code sharing and backups on GitHub, WordMove to deploy code to multiple environments, the WordPress CLI for admin and maintenance processes and a modified version of the open source Root Sage starter theme for a starter theme. We build brochure-ware sites, blogs, ecommerce sites via WooCommerce and more.
Need something that isn’t typical? We can do that, too. We build WordPress sites that integrate with Laravel applications, headless web apps that pull from the WordPress REST API, Shopify integrations and just about anything else you can imagine that WordPress can do.

The gold standard of content management systems
Choosing WordPress as your website platform is a great choice. WordPress comes with a bevy of fantastic features for website managers that allow them to edit all content on the site, including text, images, media, pages, blog posts, navigation menus, social sharing content, search engine tags and more. There is an incredible ecosystem of low-cost and free third-party plugins with powerful functionality for creating web forms, managing SEO properties, optimizing site speed and more.
Developers love WordPress, too, for its powerful templating engine and extensibility that allows them to build sites more quickly and easily than they could on other platforms. Numerous site building tools and custom data managers exist to help scaffold sites with lightning speed.

Blazing fast page loads
Speaking of lightning speed, Harmonic Northwest can make your site fast… REAL fast.
Using a combination of cacheing, media optimization, code optimization and more, we can make sure that your site performance scores in Google Lighthouse and other speed testers are in the green. Our load times are second to none and are sure to boost your SEO ranking.
First class security
A couple decades ago, a lot of folks considered security to be a weak point of WordPress. Things have changed a lot since then and now WordPress can be rightly considered one of the most secure CMS platforms of its kind.
The WordPress core files get regular updates that include rigorously tested security hardening measures and bug fixes. You can enable automatic updates of major or minor WordPress versions to ensure that even if admins ignore a site, security vulnerabilities will be patched. A host of plugins help with fine-grain security measures including Wordfence and Solid Security. Popular hosts like WP Engine offer managed hosting and security monitoring to alert admins to security issues. And a huge community of WordPress experts and enthusiasts quickly disseminates important information about security news.

Excellent for accessibility and responsive design
WCAG 2.2 compliance? Not a problem. Compatibility with all screen sizes? Absolutely.
WordPress has the flexibility to allow you to build your site to every specification. Our sites have great scores in Google’s Lighthouse and Pagespeed tools and in accessibility auditing systems. With WordPress, there are no limits to what you can build.
Powerful Plugins
WordPress has a number of super handy plugins that are either budget-friendly or completely free. The Advanced Custom Fields plugin allows non-technical users to easily manage a huge range of data types on pages and posts. Gravity Forms provides easily manageable and endlessly extendable web forms of all kinds. WooCommerce turns your site into a highly customizable storefront. Yoast SEO ensures that search-oriented page metadata is optimized and that select pages are ignored by search engine bots. Plugins like Query Monitor, WP Debugging and Kint PHP Debugger help developers troubleshoot application and database issues. And there is a plugin for just about every popular third-party service including MailChimp, HubSpot, Salesforce, Stripe, and tons more.
